EC Centrifugal Blowers for Positive-Pressure Make-Up Air: FS3G200 Aerospace Case Study

FS3G200 EC Centrifugal Blowers Deliver Filtered, Positive-Pressure Air to a French Aerospace Facility

FANOVA ENGINEERING · August 2026 · Aerospace & PrecisionPositive pressure ventilationEC centrifugal blower

When a European aerospace manufacturer needed dependable make-up air for its production area, the deciding factor was not just airflow — it was holding a controlled, positive pressure inside the production area. A mirrored pair of FANOVA FS3G200-2AGD EC single-inlet centrifugal blowers now does exactly that, feeding a filtered air cabinet that keeps dust and particulate contamination out of the precision production area.

The two blowers (blue = supply inlet, red = outlet side) installed on the customer's filtered air cabinet at the aerospace facility.

The challenge: keep production air clean without the energy cost

Precision manufacturing areas are especially sensitive to airborne contaminants. During precision assembly and handling, dust, particulate and airborne contamination carried in with raw air can affect quality and hygiene. Traditional solutions often rely on unconditioned fans that consume power continuously, or on oversized blowers that are hard to trim to real demand.

The customer wanted a compact, controllable and low-maintenance blower that could be paired left- and right-handed around a single cabinet — and run on standard 230 VAC single-phase mains.

Chosen solution: FS3G200-2AGD-2LA & -2RA

FANOVA supplied a mirror pair of the FS3G200 single-inlet centrifugal blower — the 2LA and 2RA variants share identical electrically-identical ratings but rotate in opposite directions, so they mount symmetrically about the cabinet's two air paths.

Why the FS3G200 fits an aerospace air-handling duty

  • EC efficiency on partial load. A 0–10 V / PWM / Modbus input lets the installer trim speed to actual demand — the EC motor draws power only as needed, avoiding the constant full-run energy penalty of a fixed-speed AC blower.
  • Useful pressure with a compact 200 mm wheel. With up to 1110 Pa static pressure, the blower works against filter resistance and ducting while keeping a small, lightweight footprint at the cabinet.
  • IP54 + Class B. Rated for indoor plant-room exposure where the cabinet sits near process areas, with a touch current ≤ 3.5 mA and 1500 VAC withstand.
  • Clean control integration. Modbus-485 and FG tach output connect cleanly to a room controller for pressure- or temperature-based trim.
  • Low maintenance. External-rotor EC motor with no brushes and a 50,000 h L10 design life means less downtime for a seasonal production facility.

Result

The pair of FS3G200 blowers provides filtered air under controlled pressure to the aerospace facility's production area. A left- and right-rotation pair means the two blowers install symmetrically with clean duct routing, and the Modbus / analogue control interface lets the facility schedule and trim airflow to the production schedules.
