EC fans are essentially fans with brushless DC motor, combining the advantages of AC and DC power. With the power transformation and controls achieved by built-in PCB board, the fans retain the high efficiency of a DC brushless fan without need of an AC to DC supply. Unlike traditional AC fans, EC fans have a wide operating range, the output and energy usage will remain relatively linear when speed is slightly increased or decreased.
